Lucky Trucker 28 December 2011
The driver of this truck ignored signs stating that the Forth Road Bridge was closed to all vehicles except cars due to high winds on 28 December 2011. This clip shows why restrictions during high winds are necessary! Shortly after this the driver was apprehended by bridge workers and handed over to the police - but he was incredibly lucky that nobody was killed or injured. Watch video
Blast on Beamer Rock - preparing foundations for FRC
The first test blasting to prepare the foundations for the Forth Replacement Crossing took place at the Beamer Rock next to the Forth Road Bridge at 12:35 on Monday 12 December 2011. The Beamer Rock will form the base of the central tower of the new cable stayed bridge that is due to be completed by the end of 2016. The Rock was until recently the site of a lighthouse, which has now been dismantled and put into storage until a new home for it is found. Watch video
